Pilates
What is Pilates?
Blance Line Studio offers both individual and semi-private Pilates sessions using the Joseph Pilates method and apparatus. Created at the beginning of the 20th century and proven to be effective over the years, the method is a combination of physical stretching and strength exercises that develop body flexibility, increase muscle tone and improve the balance of the body.
Pilates is a low-impact workout involving slow and harmonious movements using moderate weight, engaging the muscles of the entire body with a main focus on the center of the body (the core). Developing s strong center of the body is important when we seek proper posture, the lack of which is at the root of all back, neck pain as well as pain in the joints. The core of the body wraps the muscles of the back, buttocks, pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. A healthy core means that all these muscles of the body are strong, flexible and work together as a team to support and stabilize the spine.
With a proven effect in improving body posture and joint mobility, Pilates training is extremely effective in relieving back, lower back and neck pain caused by muscle imbalances in the body.
During the sessions we learn to breath properly and to use the breth to improve the performance. The workout is a combination of different exercises performed in one series with different number of repetitions. The exercises in Pilates not only develop strong center but also improve concentration, coordination, body awareness, balance and the body-mind connection.
By default, each exercise refers to three difficulties – beginner, intermediate and advanced. For an optimal effect, Balance Line Studio recommends training 2-3 times a week.

INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
Private pilates classes are great if you are looking for some one-on-one time with the instructor. This time gives the instructor, and you, a chance to get to know your body more personally and in-depth so as to create an exercise plan that would work best for you. A private pilates instructor is guaranteed to be with you through your exercises and provide a safe environment for you to work in. By working one-on-one with the instructor and receiving more detailed instruction than you would in a group class, you will be able to progress at a quicker rate into the advanced exercises.
Along with a focus on injury prevention, private Pilates sessions can be a safe, effective way to rebuild strength and function after an injury. Your Pilates instructor can look at your medical history, evaluate your current fitness level, and create a plan to help you rebuild strength in a safe, supervised manner.
Compared to a group class, a private session allows your instructor to focus on moves that are the safest yet most effective for your recovery. Whether you are dealing with a “runner’s knee”, a strained lower back from sitting at a desk all day, or a sports-related injury, a private session can help you safely get back on track.
SEMI-PRIVATE/DUET SESSIONS
Semi-Private sessions are for friends, couples or partners with similar goals that would like to work out together. If you are looking to enjoy the benefits of a “Pilates For General Health and Well Being Session” you may want to look to share a session with a friend which can be a cost effective way for you to enjoy the benefits of a pilates private session. Your instructor will guide you through a challenging and invigorating workout using the pilates apparatus.
